Tasked with making cover art for a local band’s new single– with the direction to base it on Botticelli’s The Three Graces– I chose to pull inspiration from the band’s namesake (Mount Shasta, often regarded as as a sacred site.) In my designs, individual characters from the painting are functioning as a mountain themselves. Since the song describes an eerie encounter at a remote cabin, I depict one about to occur on this mountaintop. I opted to use plastic children’s toys for the wolf and the elk to give them a subtle uncanny quality.
